Client: Private
Project type: Ground Floor Internal Redesign.
Completed: June 2018
Approximate value: £40,000
The client approached WGADD with the brief to redesign the ground floor plan of their existing property, to make use of the existing dark unused habitable spaces and include a WC. without the need to extend. The original layout was two reception rooms with a kitchen at the rear of the property. The second reception room situated in the centre of the house had only one small window so was always lacking natural daylight. The scheme included the removal of a chimney breast from each reception room. The removal of the dividing wall between the dark central room and the kitchen allowed the design to move the kitchen to the heart of the house.
The outcome provided the client with a larger lounge, a WC off the hall utilizing the space beneath the staircase, and a large open plan kitchen/ dining area flooded with natural daylight by the large garden South West facing bi-fold door. The existing floor throughout was removed and upgraded to current thermal requirements. The client wanted the design to be light and colourful and therefore proposed to inject colour throughout the scheme, however she wanted to achieve this without it being too intense and decided to realise this through the painting of feature walls and the use of colourful accessories.
